Privacy notice
This notice explains what Viva Roast does with personal data, under India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 and the DPDP Rules, 2025. Viva Roast is run by @drpratyay, who decides how and why this data is used (the “Data Fiduciary”).
If you don’t sign in
You can answer 10 questions without an account; after that, signing in (free) is needed to keep going. Without an account we collect no personal details and never see your answers. Google Analytics counts visits and a few events (starting a viva, the subject and whether an answer passed, overruling a roast, sharing a roast, a medal or your daily challenge score, and reaching the free limit), never what you type. Your settings, roast deck, session medals, which questions you’ve already seen (so they don’t repeat), which ones you got wrong (for “My mistakes”), how many free questions you’ve used and today’s daily challenge progress are stored only on your own device.
If you sign in
An account is optional and only for students aged 18 and over. It keeps your medals and scores and lets you join the weekly leaderboards. We keep:

We do not collect your typed answers, phone number, date of birth, college, location or contacts. We never sell your data and never use it for advertising.
Who can see it
- You see all of it in My Profile.
- Other signed-in students see your nickname, Prof year, weekly score and Dopamine on the leaderboards, only if you turn that on. It is off by default and you can turn it off any time.
- Service providers that run the app for us: Supabase (login and database, servers in Mumbai, India), Google, which you sign in with, and GitHub, which stores our weekly backups in a private repository.
- Authorities, only where the law requires it.
How long we keep it
Until you delete your account. If you don’t use your account for 2 years (no sign-in, no answered question and no profile change), it is deleted automatically, with everything in it. A sign-in that never finished setting up a profile is deleted after 30 days. Deleting your account yourself erases your profile, scores, medals and question history straight away.
We also keep a weekly backup of the database so it can be restored if something breaks. Each backup is deleted after 8 weeks, so once you delete your account it is gone from every backup within 8 weeks too. To make sure a restored backup can’t bring your account back, we keep only your account’s ID number (a random code, not your name, email or anything else) for 9 weeks after deletion, and then delete that too.
Your rights
- See and download everything we hold: My Profile → Download my data.
- Correct your nickname or Prof year: My Profile → Edit profile.
- Withdraw consent and erase: turn the leaderboard off, or My Profile → Delete my account. Withdrawing is as easy as agreeing was.
- Nominate someone to act for you if you die or cannot act yourself: write to us.
- Complain: write to pratyay@kairosmed.in. We will reply as soon as we can and within 30 days at most (the law allows up to 90). If you are not satisfied, you can complain to the Data Protection Board of India.
Reporting a problem
Report a problem needs an account (this stops scripted spam). Without an account, I was right only changes your score on your own device and nothing is sent. If you’re signed in and tap I was right or Report a problem, we keep the question’s number and the kind of problem, plus your note and what you typed only if you add them. This is stored without your name or account, so we can fix wrong questions and marking. Please don’t put personal details in a note. If you’re signed in, I was right also marks that question as right in your own history, and your account keeps a count of how many reports you’ve sent today (not what they were), so reports can be limited to stop spam.
Children
Accounts are only for people aged 18 and over. If you are under 18, you can try up to 10 questions without an account, but please don’t create one. If we learn that an account belongs to someone under 18, we will delete it.
Security
Data is encrypted in transit and at rest. Each student can only read their own data, and scores can only be changed through checked server functions. If a personal data breach happens, we will tell affected students and the Data Protection Board of India as the law requires.
On your device
Signing in stores a login token in your browser so you stay signed in. It is removed when you sign out. We use no advertising cookies.
Changes
If this notice changes in a way that affects what we do with your data, we will ask for your consent again.

यह सूचना बताती है कि भारत के डिजिटल व्यक्तिगत डेटा संरक्षण अधिनियम, 2023 और DPDP नियम, 2025 के तहत Viva Roast व्यक्तिगत डेटा के साथ क्या करता है। Viva Roast @drpratyay द्वारा चलाया जाता है, जो तय करते हैं कि यह डेटा कैसे और क्यों इस्तेमाल होता है (“डेटा फ़िड्यूशियरी”)।
अगर आप साइन इन नहीं करते
आप बिना खाते के 10 प्रश्नों के उत्तर दे सकते हैं; उसके बाद आगे बढ़ने के लिए (मुफ़्त) साइन इन करना होगा। बिना खाते के हम कोई व्यक्तिगत जानकारी नहीं लेते और आपके उत्तर कभी नहीं देखते। Google Analytics विज़िट और कुछ घटनाएँ गिनता है (वाइवा शुरू करना, विषय और उत्तर सही रहा या नहीं, रोस्ट को खारिज करना, रोस्ट, मेडल या डेली चैलेंज स्कोर शेयर करना, और मुफ़्त सीमा पूरी होना), आप जो टाइप करते हैं वह कभी नहीं। आपकी सेटिंग, रोस्ट डेक, सत्र के मेडल, आप कौन-से प्रश्न देख चुके हैं (ताकि वे दोहराए न जाएँ), कौन-से गलत हुए (“My mistakes” के लिए), कितने मुफ़्त प्रश्न इस्तेमाल हुए और आज के डेली चैलेंज की प्रगति, ये सब सिर्फ़ आपके अपने डिवाइस पर रहते हैं।
अगर आप साइन इन करते हैं
खाता वैकल्पिक है और सिर्फ़ 18 वर्ष या उससे अधिक उम्र के छात्रों के लिए है। यह आपके मेडल और स्कोर सहेजता है और आपको साप्ताहिक लीडरबोर्ड में शामिल होने देता है। हम ये रखते हैं:

हम आपके टाइप किए गए उत्तर, फ़ोन नंबर, जन्मतिथि, कॉलेज, स्थान या संपर्क नहीं लेते। हम आपका डेटा कभी नहीं बेचते और विज्ञापनों के लिए कभी इस्तेमाल नहीं करते।
इसे कौन देख सकता है
- आप My Profile में सब कुछ देख सकते हैं।
- साइन इन किए हुए दूसरे छात्र लीडरबोर्ड पर आपका उपनाम, Prof वर्ष, साप्ताहिक स्कोर और Dopamine देखते हैं, सिर्फ़ तभी जब आप इसे चालू करें। यह शुरू में बंद रहता है और आप इसे कभी भी बंद कर सकते हैं।
- सेवा प्रदाता जो हमारे लिए ऐप चलाते हैं: Supabase (लॉगिन और डेटाबेस, सर्वर मुंबई, भारत में), Google, जिससे आप साइन इन करते हैं, और GitHub, जो एक निजी (private) रिपॉज़िटरी में हमारे साप्ताहिक बैकअप रखता है।
- अधिकारी, सिर्फ़ जहाँ कानून ऐसा माँगे।
हम इसे कितने समय तक रखते हैं
जब तक आप अपना खाता नहीं मिटाते। अगर आप 2 साल तक अपना खाता इस्तेमाल नहीं करते (न साइन इन, न कोई प्रश्न हल, न प्रोफ़ाइल में बदलाव), तो वह अपने आप पूरी तरह मिट जाता है। जो साइन इन प्रोफ़ाइल बनाए बिना अधूरा रह गया, वह 30 दिन बाद मिट जाता है। खुद खाता मिटाने से आपकी प्रोफ़ाइल, स्कोर, मेडल और प्रश्न इतिहास तुरंत मिट जाते हैं।
किसी गड़बड़ी की स्थिति में डेटा वापस लाने के लिए हम हर हफ़्ते डेटाबेस का एक बैकअप भी रखते हैं। हर बैकअप 8 हफ़्ते बाद मिटा दिया जाता है, इसलिए खाता मिटाने के 8 हफ़्तों के भीतर वह हर बैकअप से भी हट जाता है। ताकि बैकअप वापस लाने पर आपका खाता फिर से न लौट आए, हम खाता मिटाने के बाद 9 हफ़्तों तक सिर्फ़ आपके खाते का ID नंबर (एक बेतरतीब कोड, आपका नाम, ईमेल या कुछ और नहीं) रखते हैं, और फिर उसे भी मिटा देते हैं।
आपके अधिकार
- देखें और डाउनलोड करें जो कुछ हमारे पास है: My Profile → Download my data।
- सुधारें अपना उपनाम या Prof वर्ष: My Profile → Edit profile।
- सहमति वापस लें और मिटाएँ: लीडरबोर्ड बंद करें, या My Profile → Delete my account। सहमति वापस लेना उतना ही आसान है जितना देना था।
- नामांकन करें किसी ऐसे व्यक्ति का जो आपकी मृत्यु या असमर्थता की स्थिति में आपकी ओर से काम करे: हमें लिखें।
- शिकायत करें: pratyay@kairosmed.in पर लिखें। हम जल्द से जल्द और अधिकतम 30 दिनों में जवाब देंगे (कानून 90 दिनों तक की अनुमति देता है)। अगर आप संतुष्ट नहीं हैं, तो आप भारत के डेटा संरक्षण बोर्ड से शिकायत कर सकते हैं।
समस्या बताना
Report a problem के लिए खाता ज़रूरी है (इससे स्क्रिप्ट से भेजा गया स्पैम रुकता है)। बिना खाते के I was right सिर्फ़ आपके अपने डिवाइस पर आपका स्कोर बदलता है और कुछ भी भेजा नहीं जाता। अगर आप साइन इन हैं और I was right या Report a problem पर टैप करते हैं, तो हम प्रश्न का नंबर और समस्या का प्रकार रखते हैं, और आपका नोट व आपने क्या टाइप किया, सिर्फ़ तभी जब आप उन्हें जोड़ें। यह आपके नाम या खाते के बिना रखा जाता है, ताकि हम गलत प्रश्न और मार्किंग ठीक कर सकें। कृपया नोट में अपनी व्यक्तिगत जानकारी न लिखें। अगर आप साइन इन हैं, तो I was right उस प्रश्न को आपके इतिहास में सही भी दर्ज कर देता है, और आपका खाता यह गिनती रखता है कि आपने आज कितनी रिपोर्ट भेजीं (रिपोर्ट में क्या था, यह नहीं), ताकि स्पैम रोकने के लिए रिपोर्ट की सीमा तय की जा सके।
बच्चे
खाते सिर्फ़ 18 वर्ष या उससे अधिक उम्र के लोगों के लिए हैं। अगर आपकी उम्र 18 से कम है, तो आप बिना खाते के 10 प्रश्न तक आज़मा सकते हैं, लेकिन कृपया खाता न बनाएँ। अगर हमें पता चलता है कि कोई खाता 18 से कम उम्र के व्यक्ति का है, तो हम उसे मिटा देंगे।
सुरक्षा
डेटा भेजते समय और सहेजते समय एन्क्रिप्ट रहता है। हर छात्र सिर्फ़ अपना डेटा पढ़ सकता है, और स्कोर सिर्फ़ जाँचे हुए सर्वर फ़ंक्शन से ही बदल सकते हैं। अगर व्यक्तिगत डेटा का उल्लंघन होता है, तो हम कानून के अनुसार प्रभावित छात्रों और भारत के डेटा संरक्षण बोर्ड को सूचित करेंगे।
आपके डिवाइस पर
साइन इन करने पर आपके ब्राउज़र में एक लॉगिन टोकन सहेजा जाता है ताकि आप साइन इन रहें। साइन आउट करने पर यह हट जाता है। हम कोई विज्ञापन कुकी इस्तेमाल नहीं करते।
बदलाव
अगर यह सूचना ऐसे बदलती है जिससे आपके डेटा के साथ हमारा व्यवहार बदले, तो हम आपसे फिर से सहमति माँगेंगे।
